Bonita Springs, 30-year property tax increase Alert!

The City wants to pay $28.6 million for 6.15 miles of land that the Lee County Property Appraiser values at only $378,005.  Findings from the Lee County Taxpayers Association audit:

• No title search was ever done
  • Environmental testing is deliberately restricted (only 6-inch soil samples + forced dilution of toxins)
  • Appraisals were delivered July 2 but hidden from the public until August 5 — just 13 days before the vote
  • The Railroad keeps all the billboard, utility, and commercial lease income (~$6 million)
  • Taxpayers get stuck with cleanup, track removal, bridges, and trail construction costs This is not a simple park project.
